One of the hallmarks of quality boards is that they continue to invest in their own education and development. GVSU provides training opportunities to board members throughout the school year.

Board Governance – Jim DeKorne

This module is designed to assist Board members in understanding the work of the Board, how work should be done, how Board’s should be held accountable, and what is success for the Board.

Boards: Goal Setting – Jim DeKorne

Great schools are mission and vision driven. Goals are the stepping-stones to accomplish those plans in specific, measurable, and tangible terms. Participants in this session will learn the components of effective goals; walk through the process of agreeing on and writing goals, and walk away with goals tailored to your school.

Board Leadership and Finance – Jim DeKorne

This module is designed to promote a better understanding of using adaptive leadership among Board members to produce key results and to further Board members’ understanding of finances, including financial reports, financial responsibilities, and financial assumptions and realities.
