Edward D. Richardson,Special Assistant to the President
Ed Richardson was an English teacher and coach for ten years prior to serving as a middle and high school principal for four years. At the age of thirty-six Mr. Richardson became a superintendent serving two Michigan school districts finishing his traditional public school career in Chelsea, Michigan. Among his accomplishments are: Starting an alternative high school, handling the aftermath of a school shooting, managing $52 million worth of new construction and changing the way student performance is valued. When asked about why he chose the field of education, Mr. Richardson says, "I came from a small town in Michigan. The teachers and professors who taught me to think and encouraged me to do more with my life made a big defference. Every child deserves a well run, caring, learning environment where his or her needs come before adult needs. Mr. Richardson became the Special Assistant to the President for Charter Schools in July of 2002. His wife's name is Myra, who works in the school accreditation business, and they have two daughters, Diane and Audrey, and a son and daughter-in-law Taft and Courtney.
